Hailing from the Jutland countryside of Northern Denmark, the dynamic duo known as Junior Senior is currently preparing for a full-scale invasion of your personal headspace. Armed with their long-awaited sophomore effort Hey Hey My My Yo Yo, the band has returned with an even more infectious, yet sophisticated and consistent, pop-dance album.

Since teaming up in 1998, Jesper “Junior” Mortensen and Jeppe “Senior” Laursen have blossomed into a unique collective, writing and performing music that has sent frenzied shockwaves of giddy pop joy to dancefloors and playlists worldwide.

Junior Senior first brought their delectable hooks and explosive energy to the World through their debut album, D-D-Don’t Don’t Stop the Beat, which was released on Danish indie-label Crunchy Frog in 2003. Fueled by the global smash ”Move Your Feet”, which spent 9 consecutive weeks in the UK top 10, six of them in the top 5, the band quickly found both commercial success and critical acclaim throughout the world.

Their debut album garnered rave reviews across the globe, with Blender Magazine giving the album a four-star rave, while Entertainment Weekly named them to their list of ”The 100 Most Creative People in Entertainment,” hailing the album as ”an aural assault of hip-hop, techno, garage, punk, and house.” Also, Rolling Stone put them #1 on their ”Hot List,” while UK mag Dazed and Confused promised its devoted readers that Junior Senior ”...will help restore your faith in the power of rock ’n roll.”

The band also developed a great reputation for their manically energetic and fun live performances and spent much of 2003 and 2004 promoting the album while touring around the world, performing at nearly every major music festival, including Glastonbury, Reading, Coachella, Summersonic, and Roskilde.

Towards the end of 2004, Junior Senior began writing and recording their second album, Hey Hey My My Yo Yo. Junior Senior set out to continue writing in the tradition of musicality and spirit, while still delivering that killer party soundtrack that their fans have come to expect and love. And they succeeded on all fronts.

Hey Hey My My Yo Yo was recorded in Sweden and Copenhagen, as well as at the legendary Muscle Shoals Studios, Alabama. In fact, Junior Senior was one of the last bands to record at Muscle Shoals before it closed its doors for good, culminating a tradition of unique and renowned artists that have recorded there, including the Stones, Aretha, and Dylan.
