Rykodisc recording artists Sam & Ruby’s, THE HERE AND THE NOW is available everywhere.  The duo’s entrancing new album is capturing the attention of critics and tastemakers, earning them NPR’s Tell Me More and Associated Press features as well as an upcoming appearance on the acclaimed PBS series Legends & Lyrics.

It’s rare when new artists meet the challenge of addressing universal themes in a unique way. Sam & Ruby have accomplished that on their latest release. If the best music sometimes defies category, then Sam & Ruby are in that special league—with a unique blend of pop, folk, R&B, and sprinkling of Americana roots.

Gifted songwriters and performing artists, Sam Brooker and Ruby Amanfu came together amidst the competitive pressure of the Nashville music community, finding creative commonality despite very different backgrounds. Brooker was raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin, while Amanfu was born in Ghana and eventually raised in Tennessee. Even with these diverse geographical influences, the tracks on THE HERE AND THE NOW have an emotional context that is surprisingly universal.

Beguiling and entrancing, these musical soul mates envelop listeners into an emotionally charged world of flawless harmony on their debut album. Sam & Ruby, together with Grammy-winning co-producer Chris Farren give each track fresh character. “While most songs dabble in softer hues, the supple arrangements -- a hint of violins on “Heaven’s My Home,” a bit of brass on “Too Much” -- vary the shadings and add to the allure,” states Lee Zimmerman of Performing Songwriter. And with reverence, style and grace, Sam and Ruby offer a provocative yet chaste take on life’s most essential source of happiness, love.
